My grandpa shared this quote with me when we talked on the phone yesterday. He had heard it shared in an interview on tv, and said he quickly wrote it down because he liked it so much. We talked about how true it is! I couldn't help but think about what a great reminder it is while we're in the midst of this pandemic and the stay-at-home orders.
Yes, some of these days may seem long... and I know that I have thought so many times about how much I miss "normal" life, family, and friends. But with Johanna just turning one and how FAST that first year went, I so believe that the years are short!!
After pondering that quote, it's led me to really want to strive to make the most of this time, because I do think that "the years are short."
I don't want to look back and think that I wasted this time--extra time with my husband and daughter, time to creatively reach out and connect with family and friends, and, as always, time to glorify God.
While this season is hard for many reasons, and your hard may look different than mine, we can rest in knowing that God is in control, He is good, and He has made each of these days. Nothing is a surprise to Him.
"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
As I reflect on that verse and on that quote, "the days are long, but the years are short," my prayer is that I choose to cherish each day, even the long ones, remembering that it is the day the Lord has made...and I can rejoice and be glad in it because I know Him!
