More than the Decorations

The lights are down, put away in boxes in the garage.

The wreath is no longer on the front door.

The stockings no longer hang by the fireplace.

The Christmas tree is gone, all of its ornaments carefully put away until next year.

At first, I was saddened by the emptiness without all the Christmas decorations up around the house. But then, I thought of something.

We are so blessed. Christmas is much more than the decorations, the lights, and the trees. It's all about God's gift of His son, truly the best gift any man or woman could ever receive. Just because the decorations are put away until next year doesn't mean that I can't still celebrate. I should! I should live each day remembering and rejoicing in the gift that was given to me through Jesus.

Christmas Day might be over, but we still have Jesus! He is alive and on His throne, in control of heaven and earth. So, even though Christmas is over and the lights and decorations are put away, I can rest assured, remaining peaceful and hopeful, remembering that I have been given the best Christmas gift possible, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!

"For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And He will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6  (Italics mine)

Chosen

“I choose her.”

Those words are special, and are like a soothing balm to a person’s heart.

“I choose her.”

Me. I am chosen. I am wanted. There are millions of other people on this earth, and yet God created me, and then, this is the amazing part, He CHOSE me.

“I choose her.”

God chose ME. To be His daughter. He calls me His own.

“I choose her.”

My King chose me. I haven’t done anything to be worthy. I’m sinful, I’m human, and I only see the here and now. But God looked down and said, “I choose her. She’s the one I want, now and always.”

God desires to have a relationship with us. He chooses us. He wants us. In today’s society, it’s so easy to get caught up in feeling undesirable or un-special compared to others. God sees us, and sees what we could be with Him. He rejoices over us, His beloved. Isaiah 62:5 says, “As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”

He chooses us. He looks at me and you and says,

“I choose her.”

“I choose him.”

“I CHOOSE YOU.”
